Nary an analyst could have said it better than ESPN's Jon Miller. Following last night's 5-1 victory over the AL Central leading Detroit Tigers, Miller referred to Chicago's destination -- the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome --as a "chamber of horrors." Having attended a game there myself before the all-star break, I agree.Game 1: John Danks (8-6, 3.98) vs. Glen Perkins (5-6, 5.55)
In six career appearances against the White Sox, three of which were starts, Perkins' performance seems in line with his 2008. Sporting an ERA of 5.64 and a BAA of .275, Perkins doesn't appear to be much of a challenge for the Sox. But, Danks hasn't fared much better against the Twins. Having made ten starts against Minnesota -- his high against any ballclub -- Danks' ERA is 5.43 with a maddening K/BB ratio of 40/30 (including 12/14 lifetime at the Metrodome!). Considering Danks walked his first four batters faced in his last game against the Twins, he shouldn't expect the opposing offense to do him any favors. He'll need to keep it on the black.
